Canon Chaigneau

Château Canon Chaigneau, under the leadership of renowned winemaker Thierry Garnaud and the visionary stewardship of Romik Arconian, epitomizes the synergy of tradition and innovation in the heart of the Néac plateau.

With a winemaking legacy spanning decades at Château Cheval Blanc, Thierry brings an intimate understanding of terroir, crafting suave, finely balanced wines that honour the region’s identity.

Farming is rooted in L’Agriculture Raisonnée, combining minimal intervention and biodiversity-focused practices, certified at the highest level of HVE (Haute Valeur Environmentale). This meticulous care, led by chef de culture Louis Marin, respects the deep-rooted vines—averaging 35 years old—which absorb the distinct iron, limestone, and clay profiles of the plateau. These soils contribute remarkable depth, minerality, and vibrancy to the wines, ensuring balance, complexity, and age worthiness while preserving the estate’s unique environmental harmony.

The estate’s innovative Cuve 8A, introduced in 2019, exemplifies a modern, terroir-driven approach.

Crafted entirely in concrete tanks, this wine eschews oak, allowing the vineyard’s unique characteristics to shine. Sourced from younger vines, Cuve 8A showcases the purity of the Néac plateau, with its mineral-laden soils contributing taut structure, black pepper, graphite notes, and vibrant black fruit flavours. This groundbreaking style complements the estate’s grand vin while offering an earlier-drinking profile that emphasizes clarity and finesse. By combining sustainable farming with cutting-edge winemaking, Château Canon Chaigneau elevates the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation, producing wines that embody both authenticity and exceptional quality.
