Pey Blanc
The Pey Blanc estate is a gem in the Aix-en-Provence wine-growing landscape. It has been a family-owned estate since 1930, and under the management of energetic winemaker Gabriel Giusiano since 2004.
Gabriel often talks about “preserving the terroir, listening to the vines and remaining attentive to their equilibrium” as he seeks to strike a balance between the elegance and freshness of his wines.
The best methods involve simply respecting the terroir’s potential and carefully training the vines for winemaking.
During a sourcing trip to Provence, one winery’s name in Aix-en-Provence repeatedly popped up: Domaine Pey Blanc.
Upon arrival at their stunning estate, we were met by Aurélien, responsible for sales and marketing, and Gabriel – wearing his trademark trucker hat, and the third generation of the Giusiano family to manage the estate.
For a winery with significant family lineage in a very traditional wine growing region there is nothing traditional about Domaine Pey Blanc. In fact, the precursor Domaine is often dropped from the marketing campaigns completely. The estate is famous for its Christmas and spring release tastings complete with DJs, dancing and magnums of their sumptuous rosés.
All of Pey Blanc’s wines are glorious, but it is their rosé range that really shines. A clear laddering of quality and style through the range is immediately evident and all wines deliver vibrancy, yet with the silky suppleness of supreme Provence rosé.
Akin to ‘grower Champagne’, Pey Blanc’s No. 1 rosé is a grower rosé, a counter weight to the trend and domination of mass-blended negociant wines. Pey Blanc’s wine portfolio expresses their particular Vallon des Mourges terroir and carry the Aix-en-Provence appellation d’origine protegée (AOP). As with many of the producers in our portfolio, Pey Blanc is deeply committed to sustainable farming and ecological practices.
