Ahrweiler Spätburgunder

Ahrweiler Spätburgunder

The Ahrweiler Pinot Noir is one of our two local wines and is therefore in the middle of our origin-based quality pyramid. The grapes come from our vineyards in Ahrweiler in the lower Ahr valley. Here the valley is wider and the soils are thicker. The approximately 25-year-old vines grow on sandstone soils with quartzite inclusions and develop fruity, almost floral aromas. These fruit notes paired with an elegant acidity and a gentle tannin structure determine the character of this wine and make it a fine, precise Pinot Noir with an elegant bouquet of red fruits, black berries and rose petals.

Soil: Sandstone weathered soils with quartzite inclusions, greywacke

Vineyard: ecological cultivation, focus on manual work on the steep slopes, 100% hand harvesting

Vinification: traditionally spontaneously fermented, not enriched, aging in barrels made of local oak, bottled gently and unfined

Alcohol: 11.5%vol
