Domaine Roger Belland
Domaine Roger Belland, a family-run estate established in 1839, embodies six generations of winemaking passion and expertise.
Managed today by Roger Belland and his daughter Julie, the Domaine cultivates 24 hectares of prestigious vineyards across some of Burgundy’s most celebrated terroirs, including Santenay, Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, Volnay, Pommard, and Maranges.
The estate boasts notable holdings such as the Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru monopole “Clos Pitois” and the largest parcel in the Grand Cru Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet. Sustainable and eco-friendly farming practices are central to their philosophy, with grass cover to prevent erosion, no herbicide use, and careful hand-harvesting to preserve quality and terroir expression. Their modern winery employs techniques like cold maceration for deep flavours and vibrant colours in reds and traditional barrel fermentation for whites, with a thoughtful balance of new oak to enhance rather than overpower the wines.
The wines of Domaine Roger Belland reflect a harmonious balance of power, elegance, and Burgundian character.
The reds, such as the Santenay Premier Cru Beauregard and Volnay Premier Cru Santenots, offer bold, expressive flavours underpinned by minerality, while the whites, particularly the Grand Cru Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet, showcase exceptional length and complexity, with variations that beautifully mirror vintage conditions. Julie’s influence has introduced a fresher, more mineral style, complementing Roger’s traditional approach, while DIAM cork closures ensure consistency and longevity. With a focus on producing wines that are both approachable and reflective of their terroir, Domaine Roger Belland continues to deliver remarkable quality across its portfolio, making it a standout in Burgundy.
